Work Out Plan

So many people start with great intentions; but no strategy. Or give up all together because they broke one exercise date with themselves.

Create a specific plan with specific goals. It’ll be a lot easier to stick to than just “Exercise more”. Make real plans with real numbers you can commit to.

  • Walk 1 mile after dinner three nights this week.
  • Get a pedometer and see how many steps you take in a normal day. The next day, take 2,000 more steps.
  • Log each mile, class and step. Keep track of how far you’ve come. Record it in your calendar

Do you have the motivation, but lack the time? There are only so many hours in a day, right! Just like your other important appointments, make a commitment to fit in getting fit. Look forward to the time you commit to doing something good for yourself.

  • Write in “Exercise Appointment” on your calendar like it’s any other appointment. You’ll be less likely to blow it off.
  • Find a fitness buddy and set workout dates with her. She’s waiting for you, so don’t let her down.
  • Make a work out date. Hire a sitter, grab your partner and go dancing.
  • Join your local Curves® fitness center. Exercise all your major muscle groups in just 30 minutes.

Never worked out before? Don’t even know where to begin?
Getting started is the hard part. Once you get your foot out the door it’s all downhill from there (figuratively speaking that is)!

  • Get the right gear. Buy good shoes. (YES!) Get help finding a shoe that is going to give you the comfort and support you need. Save them for workouts – not gardening or grocery shopping.
  • Pick out clothes that will be comfortable to workout in. Need to splurge to buy something new? It’s for a good cause! Make sure it’s comfortable and breathes.
  • Find a place you know you will feel comfortable (and safe) working out. Malls and indoor shopping centers make a great alternative to neighborhoods without safe sidewalks.

Stop by your local Curves® to find out how you can get started. There are people there to help you every step of the way.

I’ll find my running shoes in the morning. Probably not! Finding only one sneaker in the bottom of the closet is a great reason to get back in bed. Gather your gear, so it’s ready to go when you are.

  • Lay out your clothes the night before.
  • Store your workout stuff in one place.
  • Pack your gym bag with a spare set of toiletries and work clothes.
  • Charge your iPod and make sure it’s loaded with your favorite upbeat tunes.
