Embrace Change

Lean on friends

You’re not alone. When you are ready to tackle a change, having a buddy system in place makes a world of difference. A support system of uplifting people can make a world of difference to:

  • Encourage you
  • Reward you
  • Build you up
  • Hold you accountable (in a positive way)

Have a heart-to-heart with your spouse, partner or kids. Share your new plans and goals for eating better and living healthier. Tell them how they can help you.

Ask a friend to join an online community such as EatBetterAmerica.com with you. Take weight out of the conversation. It’s about eating healthier and moving more, right? Who doesn’t need that? Spin it like this, “Let’s get healthier, so we’ll be fabulous even longer!”

Get your healthcare provider involved. Putting off your annual exam because you don’t want to step on the scale? Talk about your goals with your doctor. Ask what medical tests might be right for you before making any changes. This can give you a baseline to judge your progress.
