Rev Up with Breakfast

After 9 hours in Snoozeville, you need to get your body going again. (And you thought bags under the eyes were your worst early-morning enemies!)

Breakfast can fuel you with important nutrients – like iron and calcium . And people who make a habit of eating a morning meal have healthier body weights and are more successful at keeping lost weight off.

So what’s keeping you from breakfast?

I never eat breakfast.

Make a changeTry eating breakfast just once this week. How did it go? Did you feel more energetic that morning? Snack less? How did you pull it off? Could you try it just one more time?

I just don’t feel hungry in the morning.

Make a change Think about two foods you could eat first thing in the morning – even with your eyes closed. Buy a week’s supply. Even last night’s leftovers can make for an easy breakfast! Just get into the habit of eating something every morning, like:

  • Banana
  • Ready-to-eat cereal
  • Instant oatmeal
  • Applesauce
  • Low-fat cheese stick
  • Low-fat yogurt
  • Whole grain mini bagel with peanut butter
  • Whole grain cinnamon toast
  • Apples and peanut butter
  • Hard-boiled egg

I don’t have time to eat breakfast.

Make a changeHit the snooze button for 15 minutes or jump-up for breakfast and jumpstart your metabolism.

Breakfast is a meal -- just like dinner -- so plan your menu. Save time by setting the table the night before with your cereal bowl, spoon, napkin, juice glass, and coffee cup.
